Jay Nordlinger is my #1 literary hero:

Says he:

“If I could ban one expression in life, it might be, ?Perception is reality.? I have always hated those words. No, reality is reality, and perception is perception. If the perception and the reality don?t match, it is up to conscientious people to right the wrong: to bring perception (or understanding, if you like) into line with reality. It should be unacceptable to throw up one?s hands and say, ?Perception! What?re you gonna do??”

YES! EXACTLY! RIGHT ON! THANK YOU!

I’ve been thinking this for some time now. ‘Tis the truth.

Best Christmas ever.

Bonnie, Dirtjump and I just spent an hour or so at Unca Harley and Aunt Ninny’s. We played with the puppies and Grace met her Aunt Ninny. Grace loved her! Grace won’t even let my own mother near her, and she just let Aunt Ninny hold her like she was me or B.

Sebastion gave me more kisses than usual. He practically bathed me. He’s by far the best dog in the world. It’s so sad to see him getting worse and worse. One Doc says cancer, but Aunt Ninny says she refuses to accept that. They’re getting a second opinion.

For xmas we gave Unc’ and Aunt a picture frame with a picture of each of their four dogs. Aunt Ninny damn near cried when she saw it. The pic of Sebastion was a shot of him leaning back against me, my arms around him, and both of us smiling. She pointed to it and said, “That’s my favorite one. My two favorite boys in the whole world.” Then she poked Unca Harley and said, “Well, ok, two favorite boys in the whole world younger than fifty.”

Side note, Unca Harley does not look fifty. Not at all.

Xmas at Papa’s was just awesome. Papa loved the walking stick Taylor made for him. Dad loved the pictures we gave him. Cathy loved the Irish Mist. My favorite cousins and I had a great time. Everybody adored Bonnie. I got pictures of Bonnie playing with a precious little girl named Ariel, as well as shots of both Renee and Taylor (!) reading to her.

Dad got me a 40gig harddrive. ‘Twill be for the DAP!

More later. I’ll put up pics once I get home. I’m sure Bonnie will have plenty to say, too.

Love to all!

On again, off again, somewhere in the middle

“OW!!! QUIT! NO! GRACE! GODDAMMIT!” B found out yesterday that she doesn’t have to work Saturday, so we were going to leave tomorrow after work. But I became inexplicably depressed tonight and got zilch done. I am not at all ready for the trip. I have to do laundry, grab a few more presents, give [...]
