Canadian Needs Help

Well, a lot of them do, but here’s one in particular.

(By the way, I apologize if you’re getting this more than once. I’m cross-posting so as to get as much exposure as possible.)

A good friend of mine fell in love with a Canuck some time ago. She (the Canadian) lived here for a few months and then they went home to spend Christmas with her parents. When they went to board a plane yesterday to come back, she was denied entrance to the U.S. because it was a one-way ticket, and she’s not technically going to school or working here.

I’ve talked to her a lot about this, and she’s serious about wanting to live here. I’ve talked to her boyfriend (one of my dearest friends, and one of the greatest guys on the planet) many times before, and though I haven’t spoken to him since he got back from Canada, but I know he’s absolutely tore up about this.

If anyone reading this has even the slightest info about what it takes to immigrate (emigrate? I never can remember which one to use when you’re mentioning both places.) here from the North, please let me know. Or even better, tell her. She’s young and impatient, so she’s still in that “I want to be there NOW!” stage, but she’s a bright girl (for a Canadian) and I know she’ll listen to reason. They (we) want her here, and they (we) want to do it right.
