Substantial Realization of a Lifelong Dream

When I was little I loved MacGyver. He was my hero. I wanted to be just like him, so of course I played with duct tape and Swiss Army knives and made up bullshit science to sound smart when I was rigging up useless household items to do… well, nothing. I was mimicking, not really learning.

But still, MacGyver was, and is, a badass role model to have. Sure, Jack Bauer is a stone cold force with which to reckon, but his kinda guts and savvy are both unattainable to most people and dangerous. MacGyver doesn’t shoot people. Sure, there are times when it is necessary to shoot people, but I doubt I’ll ever be in such a situation.

Anyway, as I got older I realized that MacGyver was silly, but still a damn good show. When I was 9 or 10, I fantasized about a huge computer system that held a database of every episode of every TV show ever made. Mostly, I just wanted to be able to access any episode of MacGyver or Star Trek by title or production number.

Well, thanks to various resources, the greatest of which is a certain superlative hunk of excrement we all know and love, I am well on my way to achieving that goal. I’ve got all the TNG, and DS9 is on the way. I’m slowly but surely loading up on MacGyver. I’m almost done with season one. I also have complete sets of several other great shows.

Maybe this is a pathetic hobby, but I don’t give a damn. I love these shows!
