It’s always a shame when it ends before it starts.

Well, let the drama begin. After what happened tonight at Mike’s bachelor party, I really don’t see how Rachel will go through with the wedding Saturday. I know she has put a lot of work into the ordeal, and I know that bachelor parties are supposed to be one last night of freedom, no questions [...]

I had dinner with Troy Aikman

I called Uncle Dennie to tell him, and his first response was:
“Did he pay?”

(Ok, so I didn’t have dinner with Troy, but John and I did eat two tables away from him at Rockfish.)

This is why I love to consume TV in this manner

I’ve begun to watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in order, and I’m on the third episode. A Bajoran smuggler has been murdered, and circumstancial evidence suggests Odo is the killer. While Odo is digging through the deceased’s logs, this entry crawls across the screen for half a second:

Date 46383
Secure for departure
Departure from Alderaan Spaceport
Lifeboat drill
Lunch meeting with Della Santina
Tennis (Holodeck 2)
Dinner
Ship’s conert

Nerds are the best people.

No More Mediocre Shit.

I had two minor epiphanies today. A) I have too much just-OK PC hardware strewn about my house, and could stand to replace it all. B) There are some really awesome deals on really cool hardware right now.
So, as soon as I have replaced my car with something a bit more reliable, I am going [...]

Hey you! Look here.

LAN party. Fer real. This Friday. Be there.
For those of you who have expressed the desire to play, but cannot attend, let me know and I’ll email you the lowdown on how to connect. I think we can handle 2 or three people joining in remotely.

Reinstall 98% OK

I did a fresh reinstall of XP on Angus (my laptop) this weekend. It all went well, thanks to “Windows FD.” If you don’t know what that is, and need to reinstall XP, get a hold of me and I’ll show you the magic.
However, its automated install of Media Player 9 is fucked up. It [...]

Holy Shit! I need to read the news more often.

Nick and Mary Yankovic are dead.
This is horrible, people that old and healthy dying in such a tragic manner. It’s heartwarming to note that, because Al is The Best Guy In The World, he didn’t cancel his show Saturday night, and merely placed an “in memory of” screen behind the stage beforehand.
Poor Nick and Mary. [...]

HELP! Proftpd and AuthUserFile

If anybody out there has any experience with the AuthUserFile directive in ProFTPd, please help me out. I’ve been wrestling with this thing off and on for a few days. Basically, I’ve created the passwd-style file and given proftpd.conf the right path, but the server refuses to recogize users that aren’t in /etc/passwd.
Apparently either the [...]

Another one of these

Next Friday night, April 16, 2004, there will be drunken gaming at my house. I have not yet okayed this with the roommates, so if any of them have any understandable objections, we’ll reschedule. However, tentatively, I have four confirmed nerds (guys at work) who wish to kill each other. If anyone else out there would like to join us, you’re welcome as all hell. Let me know.
