I like Wordpress, but it’s going to take some getting-used-to. The upside: I’m learning a lot more about php. MT is still here, but probably not for long, and it’s not being updated. Before I get rid of it, I’ll come up with a rewrite rule to direct old links to their respective Wordpress entries. Nah… My permalinks are and were named smartly enough that anyone ever wanting to find an old entry can do so easily.
I came up with a cool compromise. I added a ReWrite rule to direct any /archives/year/mo/da/xxxx.php request to /archives/year/mo/da/. That way if you click an old link to post 9999 on August 1 of 2003, you’ll get the archive page for August 1 of 2003 instead. This doesn’t account for my old, not-organized-by-date entries, but those links have been dead for some time now. Out with the old, in with the new, live with the mess.
GN.com MT archives will be going bye-bye within minutes.
