I really will go broke saving money

Not counting this last weekend’s festivities, I have done fairly well at not spending every last dime I get. It has been tough, since I cannot keep from scouring several sites that each give me hundreds of suggestions on where better to put my money than in the bank. But I’ll be good, I swear.

The beach was there. No rain during the day, and all had a blast. We went to Galveston and ate Mediterranean food. Taylor’s GI surplus store was closed, but he’ll make it down there someday. Lots of BBQ was eaten, and lots of good drink was drunk. Herr Dunn suggested some wine to Cathy, so she brought three bottles of it. I probably drank an entire one myself, if not more. It was excellent, and I must find it somewhere locally.

The trip home was pleasant. B drove the last hundred miles or so, and we listened to Jim Dale’s telling of Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire the entire way. I estimate that I’ll be done with Goblet within two or three more work commutes.

B and I stopped at the Kemah Boardwalk to have dinner for our three year anniversary. We chose Babin’s Seafood Cafe, and damn did we choose correctly. The crab bisque alone was worth it to me. The Boardwalk is a neat little place off 146 with boats, restaurants, amusement rides, and clean sidewalks. I’d love to go back sometime when it’s not hot enough to quickly and completely melt the huge chunk of dark chocolate I just bought in Galveston.

Oh, and my alma mater is banning private wireless access points at the campus apartments. Nerds are enraged. I’m just glad I’m not there. The money quote, which will be humorous to exactly one of the three people who read this site:

This is an unfortunate situation that has problems no matter what the resolution may be. But the free wireless service provided by the university in Waterview must take precedence over those few users who may choose to do something different.

Program on the emergence of civilization.

“14 species of large animals capable of domesitcation in the history of mankind.
None from the sub-Saharan African continent.
13 from Europe, Asia and northern Africa.”
    Favor.
    And disfavor.

They point out Africans’ attempts to domesticate the elephant and zebra, the latter being an animal they illustrate that had utmost importance for it’s applicability in transformation from a hunting/gathering to agrarian-based civilization.

The roots of racism are not of this earth.

Austrailia, aboriginals:::No domesticable animals, so this nulified diversity of life claims on sub-continental Africa, zebras being a fine example.

    god is a computer
    And we’re all on auto-pilot.

    Organizational Heirarchy
Heirarchical order, from top to bottom:

    1. MUCK - perhaps have experienced multiple universal contractions (have seen multiple big bangs), creator of the artificial intelligence humans ignorantly refer to as “god”
    2. Perhaps some mid-level alien management –
    3. Mafia (evil) aliens - runs day-to-day operations here and perhaps elsewhere (”On planets where they approved evil.”)

Then we come to terrestrial management:

    4. Chinese/egyptians - this may be separated into the eastern and western worlds
    5. Romans - they answer to the egyptians
    6. Mafia - the real-world interface that constantly turns over generationally so as to reinforce the widely-held notion of mortality
    7. Jews, corporation, women, politician - Evidence exisits to suggest mafia management over all these groups.
