Right Now

Right now, at this very moment, I am sincerely considering an enormous career move. I just wish I had the nerves right now, at this very moment, to come up with even a clue of what that new career would be.

I’ve never been one of the “FUCK MICRO$OFT!” a-holes, but in the last several months, I have become a very grouchy, very bitter opponent of all things Redmond.

After working with it for many months now, I mean REALLY working with it, I cannot come to any conclusion other than “Vista sucks hairy, nasty, gangrenous elephant testicles.” I truly apologize if that offends any of you who work for or with Microsoft, but I really do feel that way. It is terrible, it is going to do far more harm than good for at least 2 years, and it will never be installed on any of my personal computers.

Furthermore, Active Directory is also the fucking devil, though the testicles it sucks aren’t nearly as hairy or gangrenous.

I am going home. I shouldn’t. It is a bad move. I have far too much to do, and it will not get done on time. But I’m just going home, dammit.

Active directory is what happens when you have a large corporation decide on a standard, then decide to modify that standard every time they want to merge a new product or feature into it so that they don’t have to create a new system to manage said feature.

KRB5/LDAP really is OK, and I guess it’s OK to have your own schema for extra information, but M$ tends to do really strange things with their “standard implementations”.

Huh. I’m finding myself using windows less and less.

Are you still an ubuntu-in-the-home kind of guy?
